AFP clarifies

Having read the article New group aims to boost role of philanthropists in The Jakarta Post on April 13, we found that there was a misunderstood point in the article.

The article states that, "In return, the members receive a percentage of the donations received." While during the presentation on Ethics in Fund-Raising by Maretta Emery, BA, CA, CFRE, head of philanthropy services, Singapore, MeesPierson Asia International Board Member, Association of Fund-Raising Professionals (AFP), it was clearly stated that the international code of ethics for fund-raising prohibits percentage-based compensation.

This letter should clear up this misunderstanding. Such an action would provide a better and truer understanding for anyone who read the article, and would help present a clearer picture on the subject of fund-raising.
