Afghanistan issue

We feel deeply concerned over the recent situation in Afghanistan, following the escalation of civil war in the country. The armed conflict was provoked by two factions, led by Hekmatyar of Hizbul Islam, and Shah Masood of Jamaat-el-Islam.

Of course we deplored the weakness of Afghan Mujahideen in maintaining unity among the fellow Moslems. It could encourage people to say Afghan Mujahideen are just able to maintain unity if they were to fight against the aggressor, but they would fight each other if they succeeded in defeating their enemy.

This would damage the image of Afghan Mujahideen, and they also would have lost the sympathy from the world's Moslems.

We hope the two rivaling parties of Afghanistan begin to implement cease-fire and come to the negotiating table, aimed at ending the country's political conflict peacefully.
