Aeroport to manage RI airport

JAKARTA (JP): The French airport authority Aeroport de Paris has won the contract to manage and operate the Jakarta Soekarno- Hatta International Airport, said State Minister of the Empowerment of State Enterprises Tanri Abeng.

Tanri said on Thursday Aeroport de Paris offered the highest bid of US$150 million, outbidding an offer made by a consortium of Airport Schiphol in Holland and the British Port Authority.

"Aeroport de Paris is the preferred bidder. We're now in the finalization process," Tanri said on the sidelines of a seminar.

Aeroport de Paris made the bid in conjunction with GTM, a subsidiary of another French firm Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux SA.

Tanri said the French port authority would jointly operate the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, in which the latter would hold a 51 percent stake. (rei)
