Advocacy on mixed marriages offered

JAKARTA: The Association of Indonesian Women in International Marriages (Srikandi) is offering legal advocacy for people in mixed marriages to deal with host of legal problems here.

Srikandi co-chairwoman Sri Lienau said Friday that the existing Indonesian laws concerning citizenship and the consequences of marrying a foreign national had often conflicted with existing laws.

Srikandi hosts a presentation on Saturday at the Learning Center of Sekolah Cita Buana in Wisma Subud on Jl. Fatmawati No. 52, South Jakarta. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

"Everybody is invited. We also expect Indonesian men who are married to foreign women to come, so we can identify what problems they have," Sri told The Jakarta Post.--JP
