Admiral apologizes for double murder

SURABAYA, East Java: Navy chief Adm. Slamet Subijanto apologized on Saturday for the actions of Navy Col. Irvan Jumroni, who killed his former wife and a judge in a courtroom in Sidoarjo, East Java.

Slamet also called for a military tribunal to deal sternly with Irvan.

To prevent similar tragedies in the future, Slamet promised to increase the mental checkups for Navy personnel.

Irvan stabbed to death his former wife Eka Suhartini and judge Taufik after losing a civil case against Eka. He is currently being held at a naval hospital in Surabaya. -- JP
