Adipura award on parade
JAKARTA (JP): The Adipura environmental trophy, won this year
by the West Jakarta mayoralty, has been on a touring exhibition
for 56 days, touring 56 sub-districts in the mayoralty.
West Jakarta Mayor Sutardjianto received the award from
Tambora district head Nurba Cenreng in the mayoralty office on
Saturday. Tambora was the last district the motorcade passed
through.
The award is bestowed annually by the city administration on a
mayoralty considered the best, in preserving cleanliness and
keeping public order and security, among the five mayoralties.
Sutardjianto said that the exhibition was held with the
objective of increasing public awareness on the importance of
cleanliness. "This, I hope, could further motivate the people to
fully participate in all development programs. As a matter of
fact, without the participation of West Jakarta residents, the
mayoralty would not have won this year's Adipura award."
During the exhibition, mayoralty officials disseminated
information on development programs, particularly those regarding
public cleanliness and order. The mayor also donated an
unspecified amount of money to about 10,000 children from poor
families. (29)
