Adiguna's case

While our brothers and sisters in Aceh were experiencing a great calamity, some of us were indulging in convivial merrymaking at luxury hotels on New Year's Eve. After all, it is one's own right to fulfill his/her need for entertainment in spite of our solidarity for the people of Aceh.

Adiguna Sutowo and his friends' attitude toward the cashier at the Hilton Hotel's Fluid Club on New Year's Eve has clearly shown the insolently arrogant behavior of high class society. In addition, the contempt with which they treated the waiter was a stupidly cocky attitude, especially when it took the soul of a trainee employee who was just doing his duty in serving the club's customers.

The trigger that was pulled has cause the death of Yohanes Berchmans Haerudy Natong, or Rudy, a waiter at the club. On behalf of the people of Indonesia, I ask the National Police to be transparent in handling this case regardless of the social status of the suspect.

Adiguna's case should be conducted in an unbiased manner. To me, Adiguna is the sole suspect and must go to jail if found guilty. What has happened in Aceh is a reprimand from God. Indeed, we need to correct our mistakes so this year will be better than the last. The impartial treatment of Adiguna's case is an opportunity for the Indonesian government to show the world that we have justice.
