Adeksi concludes national meeting
AMBON, Maluku: The Association of Regional Legislative Councils (Adeksi), which just wrapped up its five-day-meeting in Ambon, has filed 17 recommendations to the central government.
Among the recommendations, Adeksi said that the House of Representatives (DPR) should immediately complete a bill on the code of ethics for the provincial, regental/municipal councils and the Regional Representative Council (DPD).
The legislative council grouping also demanded the government delay the revision of the Law on Regional Autonomy, pending the establishment of the DPD in 2004, said Lucky Wattimury, the chairman of Adeksi, on Monday.
The revision is being carried out by the Ministry of Home Affairs. It also discussed the possible implementation of direct elections for the heads of regional governments.
The meeting commenced on Wednesday and was attended by some 250 councillors nationwide. -- Antara
