Action against ticket scalpers planned

JAKARTA: The City Transportation Agency plans to take pictures of ticket scalpers caught operating at bus terminals this holiday season and expose the pictures to the public.

"I instructed agency officials and the terminal heads to take pictures of the ticket scalpers who bother the people, and to put the photos in the terminals," head of the agency, Rustam Efendi, told beritajakarta.com on Wednesday.

He said that the ticket scalpers who are arrested would be charged with pubic order offenses which carry a maximum penalty of three months in jail or a Rp 5 million fine.

Ticket scalpers often roam at bus terminals, harassing would- be passengers. Their numbers increase as people prepare to leave the city to celebrate Idul Fitri in their hometowns.--JP
