Banda Aceh, Aceh Province (ANTARA News) - Aceh Province will intensify promotion of its tourist objects by launching Visit Banda Aceh Year 2011.

Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik is expected to launch Visit Banda Aceh Year 2011 on October 19, 2011, according to Reza Fahlevi, head of the Aceh provincial cultural and tourism office, here Friday.

The preparations for the launching have been made since a month ago, and Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf is expected to be present in the upcoming vent.

The Aceh administration wanted to rely on the tourism sector as a main foreign exchange earner, Reza said.

Among interesting tourist objects in Banda Aceh are Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, the Aceh Sultanate tomb and a large ship that washed inland by 2004 tsunami. The floating electric generator ship, which had been pushed inland for five kilometers from the Banda Aceh harbor, is one of the iconic post-tsunami images of the Aceh provincial capital city.

Aceh Besar and Sabang, not too far away from Banda Aceh, also have a number of touristic attractions such as

Lampuuk beach is a beautiful beach with white sand, a place where you can enjoy a fascinating natural beauty and sunshine. The beach is located on the west coast of Aceh, Aceh Besar district, approximately 20 km from Banda Aceh.

Sabang`s Iboih beach, whih has a variety of coral reefs, is known for water sports like swimming, diving and snorkeling.
