Aceh dorm leader gets one-year sentence

JAKARTA: An Acehnese dormitory manager was sentenced on Thursday to one year in jail for his role in a bomb explosion which claimed three lives last year.

Presiding judge Tusani Jafri of the South Jakarta District Court read out read out the verdict for Taufik Abdullah right after the defendant's lawyers presented the plea.

The prosecutors earlier recommended the court sentence the defendant to 15 years in prison.

Two weeks ago, the court sentenced defendants Hidayatullah, alias Mussali, and Muslihul, to two years and four years imprisonment respectively in the same case.-- JP
