Access to low-cost public housing
Access to low-cost public housing
From Koran Tempo
With reference to a letter titled Rumah rakyat (public
housing), published in Koran Tempo on July 22, we would like to
clarify the matter as follows:
The Jakarta administration has shown its concern over the need
to help Jakarta residents who have difficulty securing a house or
apartment due to financial problems.
So far, the administration has built low-cost apartments in
all five municipalities -- Central Jakarta (400 units in
Pejompongan), North Jakarta (100 in Penjaringan), West Jakarta
(160 in Cengkareng), South Jakarta (120 in Tebet) and East
Jakarta (248 in Cakung).
In 2005, we shall build low-cost apartments in two
municipalities -- East Jakarta (260 at the Pulogadung small-scale
industrial center and 1,000 in Tipar Cakung) and North Jakarta
(260 in Marunda and 500 in Rawa Badak).
There are some requirements for renting low-cost apartments:
a. Indonesian citizenship
b. Being on medium or low income
c. Having a regular income
d. Not owning a house yet
e. Completing an application to rent
f. Possessing a Jakarta ID card, family card, letter from
subdistrict authority and marriage certificate
g. A commitment to pay the rental fee.
Having met the above requirements, those who wish to rent low-
cost apartments may contact the housing agency in their
respective municipality.
