Abuse of artists

From Merdeka

Sexual abuse among would-be artists has reared its ugly head again after a long absence. One suspect is a talent scout and singer, known as Dayu AG. At a time when the music industry is picking up, such incidents are to be deplored.

It is sadder still when we realize that many youngsters wish to develop their artistic talents as singers and are willing to take instruction from anyone. We have heard the oft-told desire to become a famous singer. Such a desire, rife with risks, might come to pass only after a long struggle. That too is understandable.

Some talent scouts abuse their charges. Some may even be fair- ranking guitarists with a few compositions to their names. They run to and fro, scouting for talent, and some of them step out of line with their protegees.

With trying to become known, do the struggles of performers have to entail sexual abuse as well? That is really too much!

On account of such incidents, budding singers and actors should be very careful. There are too many irresponsible so- called agents around.
