Abilio inaugurates new Ermera regent
ERMERA, East Timor: Governor Abilio Jose Osorio Soares of East Timor inaugurated Constantino Soares over the weekend as the new regent of Ermera for the 1994-99 period.
The governor said that a regent holds two tasks, namely to guarantee the implementation of government policy and to improve people's welfare.
Constantino Soares, born in Letefoho, in Ermera regency, is replacing Francisco Deodato Osorio Soares.
Abilio was quoted by Antara as saying that a regent also has the responsibility of encouraging development in his regency.
"A regent should serve people's interest. Don't ever demand people's service," the governor said. (yns)
