A voice for Ambon

JAKARTA (JP): Various artists are joining hands in presenting a charity musical show for the devastated city of Ambon on Friday, starting from 7 p.m. at Tenda Semanggi, the cafe tents located at the Stock Exchange compound in South Jakarta.

"A Voice For Ambon" was organized to raise relief funds for Ambon and to direct the government's attention to the continuing violence flooding the province.

The famous musicians and celebrities participating include Sania, Glenn, Dewi Sandra, Dik Doank and Karang Taruna, Melly Manuhutu, Funny, the vocalist from the group Swallow, Keepay, the guitarist from Swallow, and Ridho Hafies, the guitarist from Slank. They will perform together on three different stages in the compound.

This event was a combined inspiration of many Indonesian artists in association with Jakarta's University Student Association.

An auction will be held during the event, offering ethnic artwork from Ambon, including pearl rings, woven fabric, shell frames and many more.

On the same night, pop band GIGI will start their three-day performance at Theater Tanah Airku in the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah complex.

In the concert titled Baik, the title taken from their sixth album, GIGI will spoil fans with the help of the Sa'unine String Quartet from Yogyakarta. The quartet will play a combination of violin and cello to give the event an acoustic and electric nuance.
