A raucous, rollicking show of power
Swarms of people descended on Jakarta's streets during the outdoor campaign -- chanting, yelling slogans or waving their party's banners -- and paralyzing surrounding traffic in the process.
The merriest and most crowded events in Jakarta since the campaign period started on March 11 happened this week, in the final days before the general election on April 5.
The big turnout was a final, rousing show of support, amid the huge pledges and promises of the 24 contesting parties to bring about change, their way. Now it's a case of waiting and seeing who will come out on top on election day, and whether they will live up to their promises.
