A postulate for progress

New people with high academic qualifications and proven capabilities have been given positions of influence to be used for the nation's benefit.

Saudi Arabia is at a crossroads. The sixth development plan has been announced. New policies are being blueprinted. New programs, in various spheres that will hasten the development process, are being initiated. New ideas are germinating. At such a juncture, bold initiatives, such as the Cabinet changes, are required.

The last few years have witnessed a shift in the pattern of thinking. The focus has changed to trying out new methodologies. Thus, stress on the non-oil sector began to be emphasized. The future is bound to witness more such changes being effected to ensure maximum development to keep pace with the breathtaking and rapid global economic changes.

Change is a postulate for progress. Change inducts fresh blood and induces new thinking. And change helps experimentation. All these are essential for rapid economic development. The Saudi monarch (King Fahd) has sensed that these factors alone can help the kingdom attain unretarded growth. The new Cabinet reflects his vision, perception and foresight.
