A place for sexism
I refer to the recent advertisements in The Jakarta Post for managerial positions at Tony Roma's restaurants. The first advertisement proclaimed that the successful candidate will "ideally be male." The second began each sentence with "He" when referring to the responsibilities of the position.
Tony Roma's claims that it is "A recognized industry leader," without elaborating as to where the recognition comes from. I am certain that it wouldn't come from anyone committed to equal opportunity in the workplace.
It also claims that it looks for "qualified individuals" to assist in its expansion. This claim is not substantiated in its sexist recruitment policy. Tony Roma's appears to be an organization not of this decade and certainly an organization not aware of the achievements of women in management in Indonesia.
