UJUNGPANDANG, South Sulawesi: A group of local women presented
a senior official of the South Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office with
a red feathered cock in a symbolic gesture to encourage him to
remain brave, Antara reported on Saturday.

A. Rasyid was recently removed from his job as spokesman of
the Prosecutor's Office during the height of investigations into
top administration officials on charges of corruption.

Rasyid was reportedly scolded by his superiors for revealing
too much about the investigations. He was transferred to Irian
Jaya but refused the post, sensing it was punishment rather than
a promotion.

A red cock in local South Sulawesi tradition is a symbol of
bravery. The women said Rasyid should keep up his spirits
wherever he worked.

Attorney General Andi M. Ghalib has also replaced South
Sulawesi chief prosecutor Gagoek Soebagyanto who led the
corruption investigation, saying the replacement had nothing to
do with the investigation. (01)
