700 bowlers join in Lippo tourney

JAKARTA (JP): About 700 athletes are competing in the Lippo-MR
Cup bowling tournament this week at the Grand Bowling Supermal
Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang.

The tournament was officially opened on Saturday by the
National Sports Council chairman Wismoyo Arismunandar, the
Indonesian Bowling Association chairman Subagyo and Lippo Group
commissioner president James T. Riady.

The tournament, being held from May 1 to May 9, features men's
and women's masters' opens, youth masters and trios.

Several national athletes who are being groomed for the 20th
Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Brunei, Darussalam, in August, are
also warming up at the tournament, which offers Rp 86 million
(US$10,425) prize money.

A Toyota Kijang van is on offer for the perfect game session,
which is being participated in by clubs from East Kalimantan,
West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, Riau, West Sumatra,
North Sumatra, South Sumatra and Jakarta. (yan)
