70% of radio frequencies illegal
JAKARTA (JP): Chief of the Jakarta Chapter of Tourism, Post and Telecommunication Ministry, Pudjo Basuki, said that more than 70 percent of the radio frequencies in Jakarta are having permit problems.
Pudjo said that the office has issued 552 licenses to various entities but only 152 of them have proper permits. The rest are operating with expired permits, using wrong frequencies or even operating without proper licenses.
Pudjo said that the office has confiscated 42 radio transmitter devices from the companies which are operating by using certain radio frequencies illegally.
Pudjo said the illegal use of radio frequency caused the government some tax losses. (mas)
