70 firms to take part in industrial exhibition
JAKARTA (JP): Around 70 companies from eight countries, including the China National Machinery and Equipment I/E Corp. (CMEC), will take part in a four-day industrial exhibition which opens in Jakarta on Saturday.
James Lee, the manager of the Hong Kong-based Business and Industrial Trade Fair Ltd. which will organize the exhibition, said the other participants are from Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Rumania, Singapore, Taiwan and Indonesia.
"Four of China's biggest manufacturers and suppliers of machinery have agreed to participate in the exhibition," Lee told reporters yesterday.
Many low-cost products from China, Lee said, will be on display during the exhibition, which is scheduled to be opened by Minister of Industry Tunky Ariwibowo.
The Jakarta Industrial Fair 1994 (JIF 94), the official name of the exhibition, is jointly organized by PT Jakarta International Tradefair Corp. and the Business and Industrial Trade Fair Ltd.
Lee said JIF 94 will feature machinery of various industrial lines, such as rubber, plastics, electronics, woodworking, packaging, paper-making, transportation, petrochemicals, metals, mining, printing, garment and leather processing.
"We hope that over 4,000 people per day will attend the exhibition," he said.
He said the Beijing-based companies are CMEC, the China North Industries Corp. (Norinco), the China National Metals and Minerals I/E Corp. (CMMC) as well as the China National Machine Tools Corp.
JIF 94 will take place at Hall B1 and Hall B2 of the Jakarta Fair Ground in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
An official of CMEC told The Jakarta Post that his company had already shipped 10 containers full of machinery to be displayed at the exhibition.
"Experience has taught us that Indonesia is such a splendid market," he said. (09)
