6,472 bottles of alcohol confiscated

CILACAP, Central Java: Cilacap Police confiscated 6,472 bottles of alcohol in raids on various stalls and shops in the area on Monday evening.

"In our observation, alcohol is consumed daily by local residents. We have to do something before it affects the public in general," Cilacap Police chief Supt. Bambang Sudarisman said.

He added that the raids were aimed at curbing the number of alcohol-related problems in the area, citing a recent brawl in which one person was killed.

The brawl broke out when a group of intoxicated youths attacked a drunk resident in front of Cilacap bus terminal after the latter forced them to give him their money. (45/lup)
