50 hotels in C. Java closed
JAKARTA (JP): The government will close down at least 50 non- star rated hotels in the province of Central Java for illegal operation.
Head of Central Java Tourist Office Sri Soebagyo told Antara news agency that the hotel operators had been frequently advised to complete their licensing plans.
Speaking in Semarang yesterday, Sri said that a special unit comprising local authorities, police precincts, tourist offices and other units would soon be set up to take action.
"But they still have time to complete their licenses," he added.
Antara did not report any deadline given to hoteliers.
Official data shows that there are 791 hotels with 16,044 rooms in Central Java. Of these, 712 hotels with a total of 11,772 rooms are non-star rated. (icn)
