50 candidates to join MAT selection

JAKARTA (JP): Fifty candidates from 19 cities in Indonesia
will join the final selection for the Marlboro Adventure Team
(MAT) Winter Challenge at Mount Bromo this weekend.

About 120,000 applicants have registered themselves but only
50 participants have passed the necessary qualifications. Only 10
from 50 participants will represent Indonesia in the challenge
that takes place in Telluride, Colorado, from March 20 to March
28.

A press release from organizers PT Philip Morris Indonesia
said the selection would will start the first test of rappelling
on Friday followed by driving a jeep, senduro cart with obstacles
on Saturday. Senduro cart is a traditional race in Bromo where
participants are placed in a four-wheel box and slide on the
sand.

The final test on Sunday will feature a triathlon involving
horse racing, running and cycling with the finish line set at a
Mount Bromo waterfall. (yan)
