4.9 kg of dried marijuana seized
JAKARTA (JP): Police seized 4.9 kilograms of dried marijuana worth about Rp 10 million (US$4,291) Monday from minibus passengers in East Jakarta.
East Jakarta Police Chief Lt. Col. Nanan Sukarna said the seizure was conducted during a crackdown codenamed Kilat Jaya in front of Cipinang penitentiary.
Nanan said police stopped the minibus and ordered two passengers to get off.
"Police found nothing suspicious with the men. However, when police checked the minibus, they found marijuana wrapped in newspaper in the minibus' back seat. The two men escaped as soon as the officers found the marijuana."
The minibus' driver, Rudi Siahaan, told police the two men caught the minibus from the Kampung Rambutan bus terminal in East Jakarta. He said he was not aware the men carried marijuana. (jun)
