40 die of HIV/AIDS in Pekanbaru

PEKANBARU, Riau: Data at the Riau health office shows that 40 of the 82 people with HIV/AIDS in the province have died.

Ekmal Rusdy, head of health office, warned that the actual number of AIDS-related deaths could be much higher, as it was possible that many people with HIV/AIDS had not reported their condition to the government.

Ekmal said that people should help prevent the spread of AIDS/HIV by not being promiscuous or sharing syringes. -- JP
