40 busway buses
40 busway buses
to operate Monday
JAKARTA: TransJakarta Busway Management announced that it
would continue serving the public on election day on Monday, but
reduced the fleet from 51 buses to 40 buses.
The management head Irzal Z. Djamal, said on Sunday that the
decision to reduce the number of buses was due to the decreasing
demand from the public on election day.
During the July 5 presidential election, the management
recorded only 26,451 passengers. The number was higher compared
to the April 5 legislative election when only 21,681 passengers
used the busway. The busway usually served up to 60,000 people on
working days.
From 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., only 10 buses will operate at six-
minute intervals. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., 25 buses will operate at
four-minute intervals, and after 1 p.m., all 40 buses will
operate at three-minute intervals.
However, Irzal said the management could add more buses if
necessary. "We have spared five buses just in case the demand is
higher than we predict." -- JP
