4 houses in Bogor hit by landslide

BOGOR: Four houses in South Bogor collapsed in a landslide
early on Friday.

The houses were located on a hillside in Jerokuta, Empang
subdistrict, South Bogor.

Dozens of houses have been built on the hillside here, even
though the land is considered unstable.

Residents worried that another landslide would follow, due to
heavy rain that had drenched the area over the last few days.

Empang subdistrict chief Asep Rukmantara said that material
losses attributable to the landslide totaled about Rp 75 million
(approx. US$8,670), and the incident had been reported to Bogor
Mayor Iswara Natanegara. --JP
