36 students ill after party

DENPASAR, Bali: Thirty six elementary school students were
hospitalized with suspected food poisoning after a school
farewell party in Jembrana, western Bali, over the weekend.

The Budeng Elementary School students developed stomach aches
and vomited after eating meals served at the evening party,
Antara reported.

"The students, all aged under 13, may have been poisoned by
the food," paramedic Dayu Wilati of the Nagara Hospital said.
Most of the students recovered and were allowed to leave the
hospital after receiving medical attention, she said.

Schoolmaster Gusti Putu Mudiasa said that none of the adults
who ate the same food had become ill.

The party was attended by the school's teachers and the
children's parents. (pan)
