3,558-TEUs ship calls at JICT

JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) received its largest ever vessel in terms of loading volume when P&O-Nedlloyd, with a capacity of 3,558 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) called at the port on Thursday last week.

The 269-meter-long and 50,792 dead-weight-tons vessel, which is also called Nedlloyd Africa, is part of the Grand Alliance direct service to northern Europe, JITC said in a statement.

The Grand Alliance consists of five global shipping partners, namely Hapag-Lloyd, Malaysia International Shipping Corporation, Nippon Yusen Kaisha Line, Orient Overseas Container Line and P&0- Nedlloyd. It launched its direct service to Indonesia on July 7 last year.

JICT is jointly owned by an international port investor, operator, and developer Hutchison Port Holdings and local port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II. (03)
