34 UGM students receive scholarships
YOGYAKARTA: At least 34 students of the Yogyakarta-based Gadjah Mada University (UGM) received Rp 1.2 million each in scholarships for the 2001-2002 academic year from PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa.
The scholarships amounting to Rp 40.8 million in total were handed over to Deputy UGM Rector Bambang Kartika by Indocement personnel department head Riwan H.R. Noor.
Riwan said UGM was one of 15 state-run and private universities his cement firm was providing scholarships for.
Kartika said around 9,800 of the 34,000 students at UGM were badly in need of scholarships to continue their studies. --JP
