331 arrested in gambling den

JAKARTA (JP): The city military arrested 331 men and women
Saturday in a raid on an illicit gambling den in Mangga Besar,
downtown, confiscating Rp 45 million from the alleged gamblers.

Col. Didi Supandi, the city military spokesman, said yesterday
that officers of the city's Agency for the Coordination of
Support for the Development of National Stability also seized
gambling paraphernalia.

Didi said the suspects were being held at the City Military
Police detention center: "They will soon be transferred to City
Police for further processing."

He did not say how many of them were gamblers or operators.

The raid was made following a tipoff.

Mangga Besar is notorious for prostitution and gambling. (sur)
