31 soldiers in E. Java dismissed
SURABAYA: Brawijaya Military Chief Maj. Gen. Sudi Silalahi said here on Friday that he had recently dismissed 31 soldiers for breaking the law and for other disciplinary acts.
"I signed the orders (for their dismissal) about a week ago. But this does not cancel out the possibility of further dismissals," Sudi said.
"Most were let go because of desertion, but there were also those who were dismissed for being engaged in criminal acts," he added, as quoted by Antara.
Sudi said that such dismissals were part of the cultural reforms being conducted within the ranks of the Army and that the soldiers were dishonorably discharged after being processed through a military tribunal.
"We call on the community to help us keep a wary eye on these former soldiers, especially if they continue to use military influence," he said.
