3,000 to take part in Terry Fox Run

JAKARTA (JP): About 3,000 people are expected to participate in the third annual Terry Fox Run in Jakarta on Sept. 14, starting and finishing at the Regent Hotel on Jl. HR. Rasuna Said, South Jakarta.

The people taking part in the fun run event are expected to make their contribution, which will later be donated to the Indonesian Cancer Foundation for cancer research programs.

The organizing committee, which consists of representatives from the Canadian Embassy, the Indonesian Cancer Foundation, the Regent Hotel and other organizations, said that registration will open at 5:30 a.m. and the run starts at 7 a.m.

In this third year of the Terry Fox Run about Rp 167.8 million (US$63,320) has been raised by the Jakarta community for the cancer foundation. This event is not only aimed at raising money to help against cancer, but at raising awareness of the danger of cancer as well, the committee said.
