30 detained over drug-related cases

JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta Police are detaining 30 suspects
arrested in a series of recent crackdowns on drug traffickers and
dealers.

Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bahrul Alam said the suspects
were detained pending completion of their dossiers.

"They were arrested in operations conducted between April 3
and April 12. They are involved in nine cases," Anton said.

Police confiscated from the suspects 71 shabu-shabu (crystal
methamphetamine) pills, 151 grams of shabu-shabu powder, 280
kilograms of marijuana and 315 kilograms of heroin.

Anton said police detectives were developing the cases. (ylt)
