255 motorbikes for law enforcers

Governor Surjadi Soedirdja donated 240 motorbikes to the Jakarta military-police headquarters and prosecutor's office in a ceremony at City Hall yesterday.

The military received 115 motorbikes, the police 125 motorbikes, and the prosecutor's office 15 .

The municipality also donated two minibuses to the city traffic police, 15 sets of walkie talkies and three minibuses to the prosecutor's office.

The donation is primarily aimed at helping the law enforcement personnel do their job, said the governor.

Present at the ceremony were City Police Chief Maj. Gen. Moch. Hindarto, Chief of Staff of the Jakarta military command, Brig. Gen. Wiranto, and Chief of the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office Suyoto.

Over the past five years the municipality has donated a total of 267 motorbikes, 50 sets of walkie talkies, two anti-riot vehicles and one boat to the city military; 275 motorbikes, one boat, 50 sets of walkie talkie, two minibuses to the city police; and six prisoner cars, 15 motorbikes, 15 sets of walkie talkie and three minibuses.(jsk)
