2,500 pills seized

PEKANBARU, Riau: The police have arrested two suspected drug dealers and seized 2,500 stimulant pills called rehypnol.

Riau police chief Col. Moch. Maliki Sudirja said yesterday that the suspects were arrested during a drug transaction.

The pills can be obtained at nightspots, such as discotheques, for Rp 5,000 (US$2.10) each, Antara reported.

Maliki said that the two suspects may have violated a health ministerial decree and could be subject to a maximum jail term of five years.

Local drug traffickers target youths who frequent nightclubs and discotheques, the report said. (pan)
