21 caught for violating rules

BOGOR (JP): A Bogor Discipline Movement team rounded up 21 people yesterday for violating public order regulations in seven crime-prone locations, the team's leader said.

Dendy Soemantri said the 21 offenders comprised eight traders, three becak (pedicap) drivers and 10 drivers of motorcycles and cars.

"They were arrested around the Jembatan Merah shopping center, Bogor Plaza, Jl. Oto Iskandardinata, Jambu Dua Plaza, the Warung Jambu and Pasar Mawar intersections and Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan," he said.

They were tried in a mobile court located on Jl. Juanda and fined between Rp 3,000 (US$0.85) and Rp 5,000 each, he said.

Besides targeting regulation violators, the team also kept an eye on jaywalkers and the activities of sidewalk vendors, he said. (24)
