2 laborers die after wall collapses

BEKASI: Two laborers died on site after a wall at the PT Bekasi Fajar premises on Jl. Flores, MM2100 industrial estate, West Cikarang, Bekasi regency, collapsed on Tuesday.

Jefri, 35, and Hasan Basri, 24, were sitting and joking beside the wall along with two colleagues, Natron, 32, and Kumar, 44, when suddenly a two-meter-by-four-meter wall fell on top of them.

Kumar, who along with Natron suffered serious injuries, said that there was no prior indication of the collapse.

Locals, who witnessed the incident, quickly went to their assistance, managing to save Kumar and Natron, and rushed them to Karya Medika hospital, Cikarang.

Unfortunately, Jefri and Hasan died on site as a result of severe head injuries. Their bodies were taken to Bekasi general hospital.

Bekasi Police are investigating the case. No information could be obtained on who would accept responsibility for the victims' medical expenses and the cost of their funerals. -- Antara
