18 pairs vie for pageant crown

JAKARTA: A board of judges will decide the winner of the 2002 Abang-None (Mister and Miss Jakarta) beauty pageant on Saturday from 18 pairs of finalists representing Jakarta's five mayoralties and one regency of Kepulauan Seribu.

The 18 pairs, comprising three pairs from each mayoralty and regency, are selected from 1,134 participants who are staying at the Pencak Silat Training Center in East Jakarta for two weeks.

The finals, which will be broadcast live by the SCTV, will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center in Central Jakarta starting 7 p.m. -- JP
