18 districts in Cilacap flood-prone

CILACAP, Central Java: Eighteen of the 23 districts in Cilacap regency have been declared prone to floods and landslides, Central Java administration spokesman Ansor Basuki said on Monday.

"Among the districts liable to flooding are Kroya, Sampang, Sidareja, Kawunganten, Wanareja and Nusawungu. While districts vulnerable to landslides are areas such as Majenang, Karangpucung, Jeruklegi and Kedungreje," Ansor said.

Several villages have been hit recently by landslides, including Sedahayu, Sadabumi and Boja, all in Majenang district.

"We have set up an emergency team to help the victims. We already distributed food aid as well," Ansor said. (45/edt)
