177 youths arrested at Lembang rave

BANDUNG (JP): Police raided a drug party yesterday in Lembang, about 15 kilometers north of here, rounding up 177 people between the ages of 20 and 24.

Various types of drugs and 77 cars were confiscated during the dawn raid, which was led by Bandung police precinct chief Lt. Col. Rusbagio,

West Java police chief Maj. Gen. Nana S. Permana said 59 of those rounded up were women. The youths were having fun at popular roadside roasted corn stalls, where they danced to loud music, he said.

Permana said that the confiscated cars bore Jakarta, Bogor and Bandung plate numbers. The police seized 0.5 kilograms of marijuana and unspecified amounts of Ecstasy and other stimulant drugs.

He added that the other 63 people arrested had admitted using Ecstasy pills. Three had Rohipnol pills, 22 had Nipam pills, 28 had BK, two used narcotics and one of them had Magadon.

Cikole has long been suspected as the location for Ecstasy parties held by youths from midnight until morning, after all discotheques in Bandung were closed, Nana said.(17/31)
