17 universities sign MOU with Microsoft

JAKARTA: Sixteen public and one private university signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Microsoft on Monday to receive technical assistance in information technology.

The seventeen universities were recommended by the Ministry of National Education's Directorate of Higher Education, "and we are still waiting for the (recommendation) of one more university," PT Microsoft Indonesia's education manager L. Chandra Mohan said here on Monday.

"We provide training for representatives of the universities to increase their expertise," he said.

Microsoft will also provide the universities with software priced at about 85 to 90 percent of the price of commercial software. --JP
