17 firms to be seized

TANGERANG (JP): Seventeen companies in Tangerang might be seized by the government for failing to pay billions of rupiah in fees to the state social security program, an official said on Monday.

The 17 companies are among 240 companies yet to submit payments to the PT Jamsostek Tangerang office in the past three months, said head of the office Suyono.

"We have sent warning letters to these companies. If after the third notification the companies still refuse to pay without a good reason, we will be forced to take firm measures," he said.

The names of the 17 companies have been registered at the Receivership Office (KP3N) in Bogor to be further processed, he said.

Suyono said there were actually 1,200 companies that had failed to pay the Jamsostek fee out of the existing 1,382 companies in Tangerang.

"But only those who have a minimum debt of Rp 2 million are being reported to the KP3N office," he said.

He further urged the companies to meet their obligations.

"This is for the sake of the workers and the companies, too," he said. (41/edt)
