168 kgs of American meat seized

BOGOR: Bogor husbandry agency has seized a total of 168 kilograms of beef from two supermarkets. The supermarkets allegedly imported the meat from the United States, where a single case of mad cow disease was discovered on Dec. 23.

"The meat is yet to be examined, but, for now, we don't want American meat products to be sold in Bogor," head of the agency Herlin Trisnaningsih said on Wednesday.

She added that meat being sold at traditional markets was also being inspected. -- JP
