16 soccer schools to join tournament

JAKARTA (JP): Sixteen soccer schools in Greater Jakarta will take part in the under-13 Aspirin Cup soccer tournament from Nov. 4 to Nov. 12.

The tournament, which offers a total of Rp 3.75 million (US$400) in prize money, will be held at the newly constructed Aspirin soccer field, formerly E field, at the Senayan sports complex here.

The soccer schools taking part in the tournament are AS-IOP APACINTI, Galapuri, Pondok Cipta, Jasa Marga, Wahana Bogor, Depok Jaya, Cileduk, Pamulang II, Gelora Putra, Merah Putih, Bintaro Jaya, Sukma Jaya, Ricky Yacoby, Kemang Pratama, Camp 82 and Tunas Patriot.

"Hopefully, young soccer players will shine in this tournament, and they can become skillful players in the future," said former national player Ronny Pattinasarani, the head coach at AS-IOP APACINTI soccer school.

He said the age limit was set at 13 because at that age players have started to develop consistency in their skills and talent. (ivy)
