156 malnourished children found

YOGYAKARTA: At least 156 children have been found to be suffering from protein deficiency, a situation blamed on the economic crisis, Antara reported.

Provincial health office head Muchamad Harsono said people's purchasing power had declined and it was children who faced the greatest risk of malnutrition.

Most of the malnourished children, or 54, were found in Bantul regency, followed by Gunungkidul regency with 34, he said. (swe)
