1,500 deployed to guard 115 churches

JAKARTA: Some 1,500 officers from the Central Jakarta Public
Order Office are ready to secure Christmas Eve, Christmas Day,
and New Year celebrations, focusing on the security at 115
churches in the area.

Acting head of the Central Jakarta Public Order Office Rospen
Sitindjak was quoted by beritajakarta.com as saying that at least
five churches in Central Jakarta are considered a high risk. They
are the Cathedral in Sawah Besar, Immanuel Church in Gambir,
Santo Paulus and HKBP Menteng in Menteng, and HKBP Kernolong in
Senen.

He said that the focus on churches was to ensure that those
celebrating Christmas could do so in peace. --JP
