150 paintings to go under the gavel

JAKARTA: Art collectors will auction off some of 150 paintings at the National Museum, Central Jakarta, in a bid to collect money to support rehabilitation programs in tsunami-hit Aceh.

Most of the 150 paintings on display from Friday until Sunday are from the collections of several judges, including justice Paulus E. Lotulung, legal expert Bismar Siregar and human rights court judge Soedjono Dirdjosisworo, Antara reported on Tuesday.

The art works of noted composer Gesang, actresses Titi Qadarsih and Yessy Gusman will also be available for auction.

Organizer Agoes Soebagyo said Sri Warso Wahono will curate the exhibition -- A Collaboration of Artists and Collectors -- in line with the auction. -- JP
